Ferrari Color helps badge XanGo Juice convention.
With both companies headquartered in the Salt Lake City area, it should come as no surprise that Ferrari Color and long-time client Warnick Design & Productions often partner for a variety of jobs at the city's Salt Palace Convention Center.
They did just that for the Anniversary Convention of XanGo Juice distributors held at the facility last October. A Utah-based marketer of a health drink made from the Asian mangosteen fruit, XanGo was founded in 2002 and now has a network of 400,000 independent distributors worldwide.
To help badge the XanGo convention for the 5,000 attendees, Warnick sought a window wrap on one of the center's two entrances-what Utahns have affectionately named the "Salt Shakers." The graphic was to remain installed for the duration of the convention-approximately 1 week.
After receiving image files from Struck Design (XanGo's graphic-design firm) and getting approval on proofs and a layout for the installation, Ferrari used its Vutek UltraVu 3360 to output on 2876 sq ft of Flexcon Busmark media using Triangle Digital inks. "Our Vutek 3360 is the only printer on which we print Busmark self-adhesive vinyl," says Ferrari's Heidi Hall. "We do have a Scitex XLJet+ that would print on Busmark, but we generally keep it busy with larger, seamless projects such as billboards and banners." Printing took approximately 8 to 10 hr.
Using straight edges and knives, Ferrari's fabrication department then cut the printed graphics into 204 squares of two different sizes to fit the varying window sizes of the entrance. Installation, which took 2 days, was outsourced to High Tech Window Cleaning, Salt Lake City; the install crew applied the self-adhesive vinyl to the entrance windows' exterior, in-between the mullions.
"We've done the 'Salt Shaker' a number of times," says Hall, "we've gotten pretty good at it."
