The 72-in. printer images onto numerous substrates.
The latest Graphtec printer series is the JS500, and the first printer in the series is the SignJet Pro JS501-18ES, which made its debut at SGIA. This 72-in. printer images onto flex, vinyl, window film, polyester, paper, and banner rolls and sheets.
Resolutions range from 360 to 1440 dpi, and print speeds top out at 388 sq ft/hr for High Speed 360 x 360-dpi mode, in Standard 360 x 720-dpi mode it images 194 sq ft/hr, and its highest-quality print speed produces output of 48 sq ft/hr at 720 x 1440 dpi.
Equipped with 12 Xaar printheads with 35-pl ink drops, the CMYK x 3 printer utilizes either mild-solvent or solvent inks. Inks are stored in 500-ml tanks, and the JS500 also has a printhead-heating system to ensure consistent ink flow and print quality, as well as a low-ink detector and an auto cleaning system to cap and clean printheads.
In addition to its three-zone automatic media preheating system, the JS500 also has a drying system and an auto roll-to-roll feeding and tension-control system. It comes standard with Graphtec’s SignJet JS RIP.Price: $21,000; shipping Q1 2008.
